'Nothing is impossible'
CF sufferer opens her own clinic
by Jessica Cunniffe

A cystic fibrosis sufferer has defied medical advice by opening her own osteopathic business in Toddington.

After nine years studying human biology and osteopathy, Deborah Barnaville, 28 set up Toddington Osteopathic Medicine Clinic in Church Square.
Doctors told her that it was'not advisable' to commute to London to study at The British College of Osteopathic Medicine, just like they had previously said it was 'risky' to go traveling in Australia. But her one-woman venture, which opened in September is thriving in the village in which she lives.
"A year ago I was really sick and told that if I didn't recover from my chest infection then I would not be able to work" she said.
" I had lost 70% of my lung function, but I managed to get myself back, using positive attitude, because I knew I could do it."
"I thought nothing ventured, nothing gained."
Osteopathy is an alternative style of treatment which focuses on the musculo skeletal system, but it is not just for people with a bad back.
"Using the principles of this holistic approach, we can help with digestion problems, headaches, asthma, pregnancy, occupational conditions, depression, stress, diabetes - we can treat anything" said Mrs Barnaville.
" It is not about curing diseases but managing them. For example, I treated a woman who had a 20 year history of migraines and after three treatments with me she stopped having daily attacks."
She added "I have improved my quality of life and I would like to feel that I can pass that on to other people."
